- Will be arranged by our VP. VP will find a suitable place for the class. If a member’s home is used, the member will be compensated with attendance in the class.

- Cancellation Policy: 100% refund up to 3 weeks before. 50% 2 weeks before. No refund less than 2 weeks.
- Registration on-line or at meetings is required.

- Will offer on website, including a signup area. May bring signup sheet to meeting & speak briefly.

Contemporary Spirit Figure Wall Hanging Thursday, January 23, 2020

Price: $65 if you furnish and prepare your own gourds, $85 if the instructor buys, cuts and cleans the gourds.
Class Description: You will create a contemporary spirit figure suitable for hanging. The following techniques will be demonstrated: carving waves, using copper patina, woodburning petroglyphs without breaking the skin on the gourd, fashioning copper swirls for the head. Student will need: woodburner, carver and burrs suitable for removing skin, graded sandpaper for waves, beads for head and neck (I will bring some for you to use, but some may want to use your own), craft glue, small awl. Instructor will provide: tutorial, copper wire, beads, copper paint, spray bottles and patina, wax and cloth for buffing, hanging hardware. Please send or drop off a check for the full amount no later than January 1, to Julie Hemer, 23908 Berrybrook Dr. Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. I will provide patterns ahead of time for those of you who want to cut and clean your own gourds. Description: Create a unique relief gourd antler star, with the technique of rounding and under cutting, accented with wood burning for shading. With a naturally shed antler button inlay in the center.
Tools to bring with you: Carver with dremel bits 105, 107, 110 and 116. Wood burner temperature controlled with a rounded skew tip., glue E6000, dust mask, and eye protection.
Materials provided with the class: the gourd piece, sand paper, pattern, deer antler button (naturally shed), bail, leather strip, tutorial, some carving bits will be available for purchase also.

Cabochon & Pine needle focal pendants - Wednesday, February 12, 2020
Description: You will learn how to coil pine needles onto a prepared cabochon to create a pendant
You will learn 3 different ways of adding beads to your pieces and how to use a focal bead as your start. You will learn closed coiling and alternate ways of finishing your piece. The pine needles are glycerinated so they are gentle to your hands and they have greater flexibility to make tight turns.
Tools to bring with you: Small needle nose pliers, fine tipped wire cutters for jewelry and sharp scissors.
Materials provided with the class: The prepared cabochon, 2 focal beads, pine needles, Irish waxed linen, Japanese glass seed beads, glovers needle & sewing needle and detailed tutorial (emailed after the class).
Length of the class: 9:00-4:00 with 1 hour lunch break.
